A Foot in Both Worlds…
In shamanism it is understood that the physical world we perceive with our five senses is only one aspect of reality and is sometimes referred to as “ordinary reality”. Outside of ordinary reality there is the realm of Spirit, which is sometimes referred to as “non-ordinary reality”. The recognition that these aspects of reality are two halves of a whole is central to shamanism and the role of the shaman or shamanic practitioner. The shaman or shamanic practitioner is a figure in the community that has “one foot in both worlds” and is able to walk between the realms of ordinary and non-ordinary reality at will.
Through the awareness of and presence in these realms, the shaman or practitioner serves as an intermediary between the physical and spiritual worlds. Shamanism recognizes that everything in the physical realm is first manifested in the spiritual realms, including illness, which is caused by an imbalance of power that derives from the spiritual aspect of reality. In working with spiritual allies, the shaman or practitioner serves as a healer- amongst other roles- for their community and the natural world. It is through restoring balance in the spiritual realms that the symptoms manifested in the physical realms are relieved.
Kalina facilitates shamanic healing as well as holistic therapy. In this way, it is as though she has a foot in both worlds: one in the realm of spiritual healing and one in the realm of Western medicine. There have been ongoing cultural shifts from what has been called the “Old Paradigm” to the “New Paradigm”- which refer to the paradigms that we’ve socially and culturally adhered to as part of our norm. We are emerging into a new era, and with it, a new way of relating to ourselves, one another, and the world and universe at large. Part of this shift includes honoring the Spirit in all things, and that we are all One. Spiritual healing through practices and lifestyles like shamanism are reawakening us to our True Nature and the reality of Oneness. And still, we have bodies, hearts, and minds that have presence in the realm of physical matter and need to be cared for to achieve balance. For this reason, she holds healing space in both realms. Kalina recognizes that in this time of global transition, there are those that may not be ready in this lifetime to actively explore spiritual healing. Her presence in shamanic healing and holistic therapy allow her to be of service to those who resonate with both the Old and New Paradigms.
As a transgender person, Kalina resonates with having a foot in both worlds of the masculine and feminine aspects of energy and identity. She once lived her life as a man, and now walks through the world embracing her identity as a woman. It is through this duality of her story that Kalina can relate to the lived experiences of both men and women. As a transgender person, she sees herself outside of the gender binary and shares the felt understanding of those that identify with some expression of gender-expansiveness. Through her shamanic path, Kalina remembers too that she has one foot planted outside of human experience altogether, remembering that her true nature is spiritual essence and that her body serves as a home for her soul to experience the physical.
Thank you for your time and energy. Blessings!
