Within each of us is our True Self: the version of us that is balanced and in alignment with our authentic essence. Kalina’s story is one of returning to balance- to her True Self within. Her calling in life is to be of service to others through holding healing space. It is through healing ourselves that we may be in harmony with Earth as it returns to balance. Part of Kalina’s calling is to share her story and her medicine.

A Foot in Both Worlds…

In shamanism it is understood that the physical world we perceive with our five senses is only one aspect of reality and is sometimes referred to as “ordinary reality”. Outside of ordinary reality there is the realm of Spirit, which is sometimes referred to as “non-ordinary reality”. The recognition that these aspects of reality are two halves of a whole is central to shamanism and the role of the shaman or shamanic practitioner. The shaman or shamanic practitioner is a figure in the community that has “one foot in both worlds” and is able to walk between the realms of ordinary and non-ordinary reality at will.

Through the awareness of and presence in these realms, the shaman or practitioner serves as an intermediary between the physical and spiritual worlds. Shamanism recognizes that everything in the physical realm is first manifested in the spiritual realms, including illness, which is caused by an imbalance of power that derives from the spiritual aspect of reality. In working with spiritual allies, the shaman or practitioner serves as a healer- amongst other roles- for their community and the natural world. It is through restoring balance in the spiritual realms that the symptoms manifested in the physical realms are relieved.
